BACKGROUND
Empowering Champions: The Vision Behind English Champ
Why Us?
English Champ was incorporated in 2001 and we are now more than 23 years old. As one of the oldest and most established English language centre in Malaysia, we have the track record of thousands of children whom we have taught.
Background
English Champ was co-founded by Christine and Aileen. Together, they branded the organisation where anyone who walks into their lives would feel like a champion. With this mindset, learners are empowered as they learn to trust themselves when they make decisions. This process creates learners who are responsible where they take ownership of their learning and be accountable for their actions and speech.

MORE ABOUT US
Nurturing Minds, Building Futures: Our Holistic Approach to Education
Explore how English Champ fosters a comprehensive learning environment, from tailored materials and teacher training to community engagement and international recognition, all aimed at empowering students for success in today’s dynamic world.
Our research and development team updates and develops the content of our materials to ensure that the information in our materials are accurate and they are presented in a relevant way. Our teaching methodology engages the children as we are aware that children these days have shorter attention span and learn differently from 10 years ago. We are sensitive to the details of the teaching and learning material which are all critical in the long-term success of the children’s learning. This mindset and attitude have enabled us to stay ahead in providing programmes that are designed for our next generation incorporating the soft skills which are crucial in the world of AI today.
We apply the progressive learning approach. Our programme is designed for all levels – from zero to hero. Children with no prior knowledge in reading, writing, and communication can learn to read, write and communicate in English in a short period of time. Our books and materials are custom-designed to suit children of all learning types and from kindergarten to primary and secondary school levels.
English Champ has worked with families from over 50 countries. We acknowledge the differences in the culture and work towards bridging the gaps through conversations with the parents to understand their perspectives and work with the children.
A Parenting Circle is a community-based gathering where parents come together to discuss common challenges, share advice, and offer support. It provides a safe space for parents to exchange ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and build a supportive network. Parenting Circles foster camaraderie, reduce isolation, and empower parents with knowledge and resources to navigate the complexities of raising children. By promoting collaboration and mutual aid, Parenting Circles contribute to healthier family dynamics and promote the well-being of both parents and children.
Our teachers are trained to use our materials effectively. The majority of our teachers are certified first aiders. They also attend personal development workshops as they embrace the growth mindset and learn the skills to unlearn and relearn as part of their lifelong learning journey. Our team attends teachers’ training at least four times a year to upskill themselves in using our materials, with our in-house trainers and external trainers.
Through 2018 until 2020, our organisation participated in an incentive set up by Khazanah Nasional to participate as a host company. In 2018, we were named Employer of Choice for demonstrating great values to the staff.
Our co-founder, Ms Aileen Hoe is an honorary member of the Association of Toy Libraries Malaysia where the association provides accessibility to a variety of toys that can stimulate different parts of the brain and enable opportunities for children from lower-income families to learn through play. She is also a committee member of We Care Journey Association to champion care and support to families with rare genetic disease, namely, spinal muscular atrophy.
English Champ is an award-winning centre and recognised as a Gold Medal centre for International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) by the University of New South Wales Global for eight consecutive years. We have also been highlighted and featured in the newspapers and social media platforms in the past two decades.
