Our History
The organisation started in 2001 by a team of educators from Australia to provide English enrichment programmes for children ages 4 to 17 under the brandname of Literacy World English Language Centre.
Aileen and Christine took over the management in 2006 and continued providing English language programmes to promote the love for learning in a fun and nurturing environment respecting each learner as a person with individualised needs.
In 2011, in line with the organisation’s vision towards creating curious learners and thinkers with a growth mindset, the learning centre was rebranded as English Champ. It is the place where every child who walks through the door is a champion in his/her own rights. It takes a committed parent and dedicated educator to work hand in hand to combine the methods of teaching with the child’s learning styles to overcome their weaknesses and develop their skillsets and strengths.
In 2012, English Champ has extended its services to offer a non-conventional holistic preschool programme and soon after, SEN (special education needs) programme for high functioning children with special needs in its inclusive environment.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Combining the methods of teaching with the skills of learning
We respect each child’s unique learning styles and hone their skills by developing their strengths and strengthening their weaknesses
OUR OBJECTIVES
To promote language competence i.e. the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with confidence, purpose and enjoyment
Once a child enjoys doing what he or she does, learning becomes natural. From here, we will guide the child to gain confidence in reading, writing and communicating.
