Little Champ Programme Structure
Little Champ aims to cultivate basic literacy skills in 4 to 6 year-old children and improve their overall proficiency in the English language. We use a step-by-step approach to develop reading and writing skills as well as inculcate the love for reading.

Show and Tell
Being able to share your passion and what you love can be exhilarating and empowering. The same can be said for your child when he/she shares their interests or newfound knowledge with their friends! We provide these opportunities for your child so that they will not only learn to pronounce words clearly, but also build their confidence in expressing themselves.

Flash Cards
Through flash cards, your child will be able to identify and use initial sounds to make words as well as gain recognition of letters and sounds. It is also crucial in the learning of sight words, as most are not read based on the letter sounds. In these situations, they must be able to recognise the entire word and read it correctly, this is where flash cards can help tremendously.

Music and Movement
Your child learns faster and absorbs better through music and rhythm, and the muscular movements would help with the control of bodily motions. The incorporation of music and movement also helps retain the child’s attention and assist in retention of knowledge. Plus, it’s a much easier and fun-filled way to practice using the language through a catchy tune and rhyming lyrics!

Thematic Lessons
Your child will learn more effectively by focusing on one theme per month. This improves vocabulary and they learn to link words while gaining a general understanding of the theme itself.

Worksheets
Worksheets help reinforce what was learnt while providing a means of writing practise. Not only can we assess the child’s comprehension in a systematic way, they will also be eased into a level of writing that is expected in primary school and beyond.

Reading
When a child reads, they are experiencing a moment in another person’s shoes. It is these moments where they are able to grasp the intangible, such as the concepts of compassion and empathy. Such lessons are invaluable in developing a wholesome child. Along the way, the child will also pick up some new words and learn to retell main aspects of a story.

Spelling
To be able to read and write, one must first be able to spell. Although, with the advent of Google and spell checker, the same cannot be said when using the internet. Even so, it is imperative that children learn to spell so that they can craft beautiful pieces of writing and appreciate literature with or without technological assistance. Your child will start off with words that can be spelled using phonics sounds and slowly work their way up to more complex, multisyllabic words.
