Vanessa studied acting and developed an interest in teaching. She decided to teach English at a kindergarten where she was also in charge of the English department. During her university years, she had the opportunity to intern at two special needs schools as part of her internship programme. She worked with differently abled learners such as with ADHD, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and Phelan-McDermid syndrome. After graduating from Segi University with a Bachelor in Education, majoring in Special Needs, she became a drama teacher, giving her the opportunity to combine her knowledge of acting and teaching.
She hopes to improve on pedagogy to brush up on basics and add new techniques to her teaching.
Vanessa played the piano for 16 years and completed grade 8 for both the practical and theoretical ABRSM examinations under the Royal Schools of Music. During her high school days, Vanessa was a runner and a cheerleader. She was awarded as the best runner in the whole school twice and had represented her school. She competed in cheerleading competitions for five years and was awarded champion in the final year of her cheerleading days. During Vanessa’s free time, you can find her gaming with her Nintendo Switch. She is also able to solve nine different kinds of Rubik’s Cube.
