Aileen Hoe

Aileen identifies herself as a ‘mother’ of hundreds with one biological daughter and the rest, her English Champ children ages 2 to 17.  She started teaching at the tender age of 16, and when she observed the magnitude of the impact she had made in her first student, she realised that the most effective way of teaching is through modelling, understanding the child’s unique learning style and utilising effective teaching methods that cater to the child’s needs.

Having trained in child psychology and assessment, teaching English as a second language, music and movement, and speech and drama, she believes in the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  She works closely with the children’s main caregivers – parents, grandparents and nanny – to understand the child and come to an alignment of principles with all parties. Through this joint effort, she has witnessed transformation of character in many children. She strongly believes that a child will develop at his own pace naturally when he feels safe growing in the village. He knows that he is not judged or compared to, but is loved unconditionally for who he is innately. This child will grow being a happy and confident child.  He will be a thinking child – a child who is able to make decisions based on universal life principles, and be responsible and accountable for his actions.  The thinking child will be empowered from the inside-out and find his purpose in the society.

As what Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”

Aileen is currently the Director of English Champ and Principal of Kinder Champ and Little Champ (Preschool Programmes).


Christine Wee

Christine has many years of teaDSC_0056ching experience ranging from preschool to adults including foreign students. She has taught in public, private and international schools; and English Language centres.

By auditioning for a role at The Actors Studio, she was exposed to various skills in speech and drama during the workshops. Thereafter she has appeared in acts and television dramas. With that experience, she has incorporated speech and drama into her teaching.

To date, she is the principal of English Champ at Taman Megah. She is still teaching because she is passionate in nurturing her students. It always brings a big smile to her face and satisfaction to see her students’ accomplishments not only in studies but in life as well. To her, every child can improve no matter how tiny the steps are.


Maria Cecilia 


Maria  is a professional teacher from the Philippines.  She received her bachelor’s degree from The Philippine Normal University and passed the licensure examination for teachers. She has ten years of teaching experience at the special school for the bright/mentally gifted but underprivileged students. She has been teaching Integrated Language Arts subject. She also served as a year/grade level chairperson and assisted new teachers in implementing an integrated curriculum. She is an enthusiastic, caring educator who believes that all children can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting, and appropriate to children’s abilities. Maria is blissfully married with two adorable kids.


Lynne Chuah

profile pic 2017Lynne Chuah is a pianist and educator who is equally passionate about the performing arts and music education. She journeyed to London to pursue music studies and completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours at Middlesex University. Lynne furthered her studies years later at the University of Melbourne and graduated with Master of Music Studies (Performing and Teaching). Lynne has over a decade of teaching experience in London, Melbourne, Singapore and Malaysia. She finds joy in teaching young children. A desire to nurture young minds led Lynne to continue to dedicate much of her energies to teaching young kids. One of her main goals as a music teacher is to cultivate growing interest and love for music, apart from developing solid technical skills and musicality of the students. She believes music plays a positive effect on the children’s growth and helps to mold good character. Through music, children learn to create, listen, imagine and express themselves.


Woo Han Zhang

Woo Han Zhang has completed STPM in 2012 with a band 5 in theIMG-20160412-WA0000 Malaysian University English Test (MUET) and is currently pursuing his degree in TESL (Teaching of English as a second language). He has five years teaching experience having taught English, Mathematics and Science at educational centres to students aged 7 to 15 before joining English Champ. He loves reading, especially random fun-facts and would often share that knowledge with his students.


Low Ka Mun

Teacher Ka Mun graduated from Northumbria University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She believes in nurturing young children to their best potential. Low has several years of tutoring experience in various subjects including Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Mathematics and Science.




Hayati Syafina Amaruddin

Hayati Syafina Amaruddin or Yatt is an English graduate from International img-20161006-wa0000Islamic University Malaysia. In university, she found satisfaction in helping others understanding lessons and this had further fired up her enthusiasm to pursue teaching as her career choice. She had worked in an enrichment centre for children prior to joining English Champ, where she had gained valuable experience in dealing with children from 6 months old to 5 years old. She had also actively volunteered as a part-time teacher for an NGO to help underprivileged children learn the English language.  She believes in creating an interactive learning environment within a group class while focusing on the individual needs of each student.


Alicia Soon

Alicia Soon or Ally graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor of alicia PhotoArts with Honours in Education (Special Education Needs). She believes all students, including students with special needs, deserve to be given quality education.Having worked in a special needs school, she experienced teaching students with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, GDD, Epilepsy and more. As a cognitive skills trainer, she is able to identify students’ struggles from a cognitive skills perspective and guide them through their struggles. These experiences have given her the opportunity to work with toddlers to teenagers.

Her special skills are to nurture a growth mindset in children and to turn the whole learning process into an enjoyable game.


Ong Ai Mei


Ai Mei has been a dedicated music teacher for the past 18 years, focusing on piano and violin teaching, music theory and early childhood music programs. She possesses a diploma in piano performance (ATCL Trinity College of London) and pianoforte teaching (ALCM London College of Music). Ai Mei had studied piano under Christina Tio and Ng Chong Lim, and was learning violin under Liew Ai Lin and Lee See Guan. In university, Ai Mei has played the violin with the university orchestra, performed repertoires like Beethoven Symphony No 6, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, Gershwin Piano Concerto etc. As a music education majored student, she was also exposed to different methods in classroom teaching, like Kodaly, Orff, Suzuki. After graduating from Universiti Putra Malaysia, she later became one of the pioneer musikgarten teachers giving classes to children aged from babies to 8 years old. With much enthusiasm in teaching, Ai Mei furthered her studies at Universiti Malaya, majoring in Early Childhood Education. She believes every child has musical talent, and throughout the years she enjoys bringing that talent out in all of her students and watching them grow and live with music.
